About this objectWhite banner with painted motif of Margaret Thatcher dressed a Goebbels at a concentration camp. The prisoner beside her has a pink triangle over his head. The years 1935-1988 are listed at the bottom of the image. The banner was carried at the Stop the Clause march in London on 30th April 1988. The dates on the banner reference paragraph 175 of the Nazi penal code which prohibited homosexuality, drawing comparison to the current Clause 28 legislation.

Credit Line"The Norfolk Heritage Centre’s collection of printed ephemera (some 67,000 individual items) offers a unique insight into the changing nature of everyday life in the east of England. These types of primary, uninterpreted documents were produced only for short-term use (they were never intended to be kept). The Norfolk LGBTQ+ Collection is comprised of ephemera (leaflets, posters, flyers), maps, magazines, books, badges, photographs, zines, amongst many other items telling local LGBTQ+ stories. The collection has been donated by local LGBTQ+ groups and individuals, including Norwich Pride and the Norfolk LGBT+ Project.
